Kickstart arm, backyard style!

Started making my new kickstart arm. The old one does not clear the fat exhaust. Got me a piece of scrap metal, some drills and some files and made myself the bracket that clamps the kick axle.

S&S Pointcover, The hard way!

Been fiddling around with some S&S logo's today. Downloaded a picture from internet and traced it to make a line drawing, which I copied onto a thick sheet of aluminium. Drilling and filing is next....

Tube bender drawings!

I didn't waste any time tonight and started to make the drawings for the tube bender based upon all the sketches, fotos and advise I found on the internet. I'll testfit these to the die-sets before having them laser-cut.
Can't wait to make the first bend..

Goodies, goodies!

Today some parcels arrived. Two die sets and a tube notcher.
The bender itself I intend to build myself, Internet is a great source of information and I was able to retrieve some build plans.
This increases my fab capabilities and brings me another step closer to the next build :-)

Details, details, have someone stop me!

I had this idea in my mind for a long time now. Today I spend hours in the workshop to get it done.
In short; I made holes and I fitted little stainless bolts. It made the different parts of the bike come together. Me happy :-)

Exhaust fitted, we're getting closer!

Today I added some more detail to the bike and I mounted the exhaust.
2,5" pipe with a black ceramic coating, alu heatshield and exhaust tips. I like the way the exhaust fills-up the right side of the bike.

How did it start, Initial build!

This is how it all got started. Back in 1989 I decided it was time to do away with all the unnecessary stock parts and get myself a hardtail frame.
In this little 4 by 3 meter shed I build my first bike. I still own that bike and have ridden it every year since then......

Beltcover done!

It's been a productive weekend, also got to finish my belt cover.
Tis been a bit of a fiddly job, as you remember I started this way back in May last year, by cutting and filing a piece of sheet aluminium.
Look wat a great piece it has become. Who's bike is this, hahahaha........

Dash is done!

Spend another few hours grinding, cutting and polishing today.
The dash fits perfectly to the gastank now.
I like the way the Aluminium details contrast with the paintjob on the tank and the rear fender. What do you think?

Making my Alu dash!

Very happy that the season holidays are behind us. Got to spend a few hours in the workshop today.
I have showed you that I had a dash plate made. To fit it to the tank it needs to get its "skirt".
Got the special tools ready :-), started bending, welding and grinding. Needs a few more touch-ups on the welds, will do that tomorrow.
Now....Cut it to size......
