After fixing the carbs of the purple chop the bike refused to run properly.
Checked everything else and then..... I checked the cylinder pressure, oops 5 bar, not good...
Took the hart out of the bike for a checkup of the valves,
tomorrow is another day......

First ride, Its alive!
After fumbling around with wires the past days I got to start the bike for the first time since Oct 2009. It roars, it shakes, it goes........
Hahahaha, did my first test ride, 10km, tomorrow I'll fix some start-up problems and then........I'll ride it some more.
Nothin beats riding you own backyard build bike. yessssss........

Finally, Wiring!
After fucking around with the brakes for too long, I couldn´t get them working properly, I have finally started with the wiring.
When I stripped the bike back in 2009, I ripped out the wiring completely. My last trip on this bike ended alongside the highway with some major electrical problems, taking me hours to get back home. so......
Starting from scratch... I always attach individual cables to each user, switch etc. This way, if anything fails in the future I can replace it with ease without having to touch the rest of the wiring harness.
It isn´t much I need to wire-up, I have reduced things to the max. For example, no switches so NO wiring to the handlebars.
I really hope I can ride this bike next weekend, fingers crossed...

CV Membrane, Goodies!
Stripped down the old virago to get to the bits I so desperately need.
The CV membranes are ok, I am very happy.
After a bit of cleaning they are ready to go into the carbs of the purple Yamaha chop.

Garden find!
The CV membrane of the carbs of 1 of the Yamaha chops has some tiny holes in it which makes the bike run like a shaking old bitch. I've looked everywhere for some replacement parts, no longer available :-(
Luckily I knew of a possible donor bike which hasn't been in use for many years.
That's tonight’s garden find, just picked it up, hopefully it contains the parts I so desperately need. Thanks Harry.
Tomorrow we'll see.......... to be continued

Dampers are back, oohh yeah!
Unlike I posted some weeks ago I decided to ship the leaking dampers to the manufacturer in France. Some specific spare parts were not freely attainable. The boys from Fournales did a fine job repairing them, they even exchanged the cosmetic bits. This on dampers that are 10 years old.
I know what I am doing tonight........back into the workshop :-)

Shockers leaking!
Damn, I am getting so close to finishing the bike....and then....
I got the bike on the ground after its been on the lift for a while to find out that both shockers are leaking oil. Quickly got onto the internet to find the manufacturer and ask for info and help. Guess what....I found them....it turns out I've got Fournales height adjustable shockers on the bike. Air-pressure is doing the trick.
Send the company an email to ask for help, looking for parts, oil volume information, etc. Quick reply but the help is limted to, "send them to us we will fix it for you"......but I am too much of stubborn basterd to do that.
I have to attempt to do it locally.
First job, make some new pushrods since the old ones are damaged.

War-machine!? first ride
My mate Wim finished his war machine and honoured us with a visit.
His bike is a head-turner, I am sure we're going to have some fun with folks that are going to assume the brand and heritage of the bike. WRONG, hahah......I love it.....

Fender adjusted, Fiddly stuff!
Got started with the wiring again and while dis-assembling the rear-end I decided I wanted larger clearance between the fender and the tire, nice timing you dumb fuck, haha.....
With the fender painted that turned out to be a fiddly job, but with some carefull cutting and filing it looks like its never been touched.
The fender clears the tire an additional 0.5 cm and.......
I did not forget the wires :-)

Support for the startermotor
Already for a while I didn't like the way the startermotor was mounted. It is only hanging of an alu plate on the right hand side. With the torque its producing in combination with the weight, I think it is an accident about to happen.
Not anymore, took a scrap piece of 12mm Alu plate an made myself another support bracket. Great backyard style solution don't you think.
